Kerstin Wijeyewardene, an Australia national, is the World Bank Group Alternate Executive Director for Asia and the Pacific Constituency.

Prior to joining the World Bank Board in November 2022, Ms. Wijeyewardene was a Senior Executive in the Australian Treasury, holding a number of positions in International and Domestic Economic Policy.

Ms. Wijeyewardene served as Treasury’s Senior Representative in the United Kingdom and Europe where she advised on the implications of the European Sovereign Debt Crisis for Economies in the region and Australia. She has worked extensively on shaping and leading policy agendas under the G20, including during Australia’s 2014 Presidency where she steered policy outcomes relating to the financial sector, taxation and international financial architecture.

Ms. Wijeyewardene was appointed as G20 Special Adviser in the Argentine Ministry of Finance where she supported the administration develop and execute its G20 agenda.

On the domestic front, Ms. Wijeyewardene has led major reforms to corporate and financial sector policy, including the Government’s response to the global financial crisis.

She holds a Bachelor of Arts from the University of Canberra and a Bachelor of Laws from the Australian National University.
