José-Daniel Reyes

Senior Country Economist for Argentina, Latin America and Caribbean

Daniel Reyes is the Senior Country Economist for Argentina. He is a Development Economist specializing in macroeconomics, trade, and private sector development. Previously, Daniel served as the Senior Country Economist in West Africa, where he led numerous lending operations and provided technical assistance in Cabo Verde and Guinea-Bissau. His research focuses on firm-level responses to regulatory reforms aimed at promoting trade and investment and has been published in top academic journals, including American Economic Review, European Economic Review, and Economica.

Daniel has extensive experience leading policy dialogue across Latin America, Africa, and Asia. Prior to joining the World Bank Group in 2012, he worked for the Inter-American Development Bank and the Colombian government.

He holds a Bachelor’s degree in Economics from the University of the Andes in Colombia, as well as a Master’s and a Ph.D. in Economics from Georgetown University in the U.S.
