Hibret Belete is an Economist within the Enterprise Analysis Unit of the Development Economics Indicators Group at the World Bank. He is involved in implementing firm-level survey projects across multiple countries. His primary research focus is on development economics, with specific interests in understanding the sources of productivity differences at the firm, industry, and country level, as well as examining the origins of informality and its impact on development. He earned his Ph.D. in Economics from Maastricht University.
