Eugene Rhuggenaath became the World Bank Group Executive Director representing the Constituency of Armenia, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Bulgaria, Croatia, Cyprus, Georgia, Israel, Moldova, Montenegro, The Netherlands, North Macedonia, Romania, and Ukraine on November 1, 2023.
Prior to joining the World Bank Group Executive Board, Mr. Rhuggenaath was the Chairman of the Caribbean Netherlands Pension Fund Supervisory Board (PCN). He held several senior positions in the Curacao Government between 2015 and 2021, including Prime Minister, Minister of Education, Science, Culture, and Sport, and Minister of Economic Development;
In addition, Mr. Rhuggenaath has experience working in the private sector, in international financial services as Managing Director. In this capacity, Mr. Rhuggenaath worked in International Financial Center and Exchange (IFC&E), and CITCO Banking Corporation, respectively.
