Erwin D. Sta. Ana, a Philippine National, is the World Bank Group Alternate Executive Director (AED) representing Brazil, Colombia, Dominican Republic, Ecuador, Haiti, Panama, the Philippines, Suriname, and Trinidad & Tobago.
Mr. Sta. Ana is bringing to EDS15 and to the Bank more than two decades of extensive experience in public financial management, debt and risk management, capital markets, development and infrastructure finance, public policy, technology, legal and compliance. Prior to his stint as AED, he was the Deputy Treasurer of the Philippines primarily handling funding and liability management, information technology and legal portfolio at the Bureau of the Treasury. He was responsible for the formulation of National Government’s financing program, origination and execution of transactions in the domestic and international debt capital markets, implementation of capital market development programs and monitoring contingent liabilities from state-owned enterprises and those arising from PPPs.
Mr. Sta. Ana held key positions at the International Finance Group of the Department of Finance handling development assistance from bilateral and multilateral sources. He likewise served as Advisor to the Undersecretary and the National Treasurer.
He has degrees in economics and law and is a member of the Philippine bar.
