Dirk Reinermann

Director of the IDA Resource Mobilization and IBRD Corporate Finance, Development Finance

Dirk Reinermann is the Director of the International Development Association (IDA) Resource Mobilization and International Bank for Reconstruction and Development (IBRD) Corporate Finance department at the World Bank, effective October 1, 2022. In his role, Mr. Reinermann is responsible for the implementation of IDA’s hybrid financial model and the policy analysis of IBRD income and corporate finance.

Prior to this, Dirk was the Director for Trust Funds and Partner Relations in the Development Finance Vice Presidency (DFi) of the World Bank since 2017. In this role, Mr. Reinermann oversaw the trusteeship of over USD 30 billion held in IBRD/IDA Trust Funds and Financial Intermediary Funds (FiFs).  In this capacity he also directed the reform of Trust Funds and FiFs at the World Bank, the most ambitious reform of these external funding instruments to date.

Previously, Mr. Reinermann was the Country Manager for Southern Europe, building up and managing an advisory program in Southern Europe (Greece, Cyprus, Italy) as well as in select Western European countries. Prior to that, as Manager of the EU Partnership team based in Brussels, he led the design of the first partnership strategy between the Europe and Central Asia department of the WBG and the European Union, which has transformed the Bank’s partnership with EU institutions.

Mr. Reinermann joined the World Bank Group in 1996 as a Senior Advisor on the Executive Board and has since held various management positions on Nigeria, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Southern Africa and in Brussels, Belgium. He holds a Diploma in Economics from Ruprecht-Karls-University in Heidelberg, Germany and has worked for the German Federal Government as a trade economist and speech writer to the Minister. He is married and has three daughters.
