Diane Steele is a Senior Economist/Survey Specialist in the Survey Unit of the World Bank Development Data Group and a member of the Living Standards Measurement Study (LSMS) team. She is the administrator of the Living Standards Measurement Study (LSMS) database. She is an expert in household survey design, implementation and analysis. She leads the LSMS-ISA program activities in Burkina Faso. Ms. Steele provides technical assistance to the staff in national statistical institutes on how to implement and analyze nationally representative multi-topic household surveys.
The Living Standards Measurement Study (LSMS) and the Living Standards Measurement Study-Integrated Surveys on Agriculture (LSMS-ISA) were established to explore ways of improving the type and quality of household data collected by statistical offices in developing countries. The goal is to foster increased use of household data as a basis for policy decisionmaking.
