Erdem Atas joined the World Bank in 2017 and currently works for World Bank Maldives program as a Country Economist and Resident Coordinator for the Macroeconomics, Public Sector, Trade & Investment unit since July 2022. Prior to his duty in Maldives, he worked as a Country Economist for Turkey. He mainly works on macroeconomic stability, financial and fiscal policy issues, as well as on the structural transformation areas. Before joining the World Bank, he worked for the International Monetary Fund. He has Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees in Economics from the University of London and the University of Warwick. In his spare time, he enjoys photography, cooking, running, recording songs, reading, and exploring archaeological sites.
