Highlights of the Executive Director’s visit to Mauritania:

- Meeting with the Governor of the Central Bank of Mauritania, Dr. Mohamed Lemine Ould Dheby
- Delivered the closing remarks to the High-Level Forum on Pastoralism in the Sahel and West Africa
From November 7 to 8, 2024, Mr. Harold Tavares undertook his first mission as Executive Director to Mauritania. This trip also marked his first visit to the country, a nation with a unique cultural and economic landscape and an increasingly significant role as the current Chair of the African Union. During the visit, the Executive Director engaged in meaningful discussions with key leaders, including the Prime Minister, the Minister of Economy and Finance (who also serves as Mauritania’s Governor at the World Bank Group), and the Governor of the Central Bank of Mauritania.
