This study aims to fill that gap by developing a conceptual plan for SMR to ATR conversion; analyzing the economics at different plant scales and ages; and identifying specific facilities that may be prime candidates for retrofitting. The results will provide valuable guidance to methanol and ammonia producers; technology providers; and policymakers as these industries navigate the transition to lower-carbon production methods.Evaluate the conversion of existing SMR-based methanol and/or ammonia plants (potentially applicable to hydrogen plants as well) to achieve lower carbon emissions by integrating an additional POx/ATR system. The project will involve developing CAPEX and OPEX estimates per ton of product for three different sizes of SMR.
