The SNCFT project aims to strengthen cybersecurity; optimize telecom infrastructure; and monetize surplus fiber optic capacity while ensuring railway safety. It will assess network security; identify vulnerabilities; and propose improvements with a cost-benefit analysis. The project will also map existing IT and fiber systems; including railway signaling; ticketing; and GSM-R; to understand risks and integration needs. A key focus is exploring ways to generate revenue from unused fiber optic pairs while managing cybersecurity risks. The project will evaluate potential services; such as data centers; and analyze their feasibility. Deliverables include an inception report detailing the methodology; a cybersecurity diagnostic identifying gaps and risks; and a strategic roadmap outlining security measures; investment needs; and monetization strategies. The project requires cybersecurity experts; specialists in fiber optic and telecom networks; and IT security professionals. It will propose a phased security upgrade plan; define KPIs; and ensure critical railway operations remain protected during implementation.
