Harmful social and gender norms are persistent barriers to adolescent girls and young women (AGYW) achieving parity in the social; political; health; and economic spheres. Entertainment media (EM) delivered through traditional modes (i.e.; TV; film; and radio) or digital platforms; can either reinforce or counteract societally embedded norms. Content analyses (CA) of media content in developing countries remain rare. CAs can serve both a diagnostic function by highlighting the incidence of social norms in EM; as well as an advocacy function by providing tools to promote greater educational content within media landscapes in developing countries. This project seeks to deliver a thorough and thematically relevant content analysis of EM from Nigeria; Kenya; and India.
