Building on these recent successes; the World Bank approved a project in July 2024 to enhance civil society contributions and share best practices among EITI-implementing countries through peer learning events; advocacy campaigns; and knowledge products to monitor compliance and achieve accountability. The project focuses on providing technical assistance CSOs to monitor the environmental; social; and governance impacts of the extractive sector to contribute to national policy priorities. The project aims to promote greater citizen engagement to ensure that the extractive sector contributes to poverty reduction in resource-rich countries.
