IFC’s Financial Institutions Group aims to understand the opportunity for financing SMEs and key agri-industrial clients in key agri-value chains in the DRC. FIG would like to hire a firm/consultant to carry out a practical; opportunity sizing/mapping of these key value chains with a focus on: understanding the value chains (level of organization; value to the economy; etc.) and particularly on key agri-businesses in these value chains (suppliers; transporters; equipment providers; offtakers; etc); their level of relative risk; business size/characteristics; and their financing needs; etc. with an aim at identifying bankable opportunities for financial insititutions. • Conduct desk research and produce a preliminary version of the local agricultural landscape and key industry data.• Work with IFC to select a few value chains and regions with high agricultural finance potential; to carry out a more in-depth market study• Detailed mapping of 3-4 value chains with a focus on sizing the financing needs among the most viable SMEs and agri-businesses and identifying bankable opportunities• Workshop/session(s) with potential financing entities to understand and render actionable the findings (e.g. how to reflect in their targeting strategy; underwriting; risk assessment; etc.)
