. Ecuador has a relevant experience in community based rural road maintenance; where women have been employed sporadically. As mentioned in the context session; the participation of women in road maintenance could bring relevant benefits to the resilience of the infrastructure. The third activity of the Project will investigate the eventual correlation between women participation and the quality of road maintenance and the resilience of the infrastructure. This activity will also identify specific gender-linked vulnerabilities of the road infrastructures (i.e.; how much specific typologies of critical vulnerability may affect more women and girls than the rest of the population); particularly related to climate hazards; define preventive and risk management measures; and monitor the implementation of project activities aiming at increase resilience. Finally; the consultant will develop a Manual to increase capacity within communities in the establishment of Microenterprises for routine maintenance.
