Workshop on Land Records Management and Information Systems: Community of Learning Exchange
June 12-14, 2017Bangkok, Thailand

Image
Demand for land and, in many cases, land prices, have greatly increased with population growth, urbanization, and overall economic development.

This regional learning event is a timely opportunity to feature the successes of the Land Records Management and Information System (LRMIS) project in Punjab, Pakistan along with international experiences on modernizing land administration systems.  The idea is to develop a “community learning practice” to exchange lessons learned that will lead to the modernization of land records and information systems in the region.

The objectives of this regional workshop will be to:

  1. Disseminate the lessons learned of the Punjab LRMIS Project;
  2. Promote a community of learning exchange among selected South and Southeast Asian countries.

More about the Punjab LRMIS project:

The Land Records Management and Information System (LRMIS) project in Punjab, Pakistan has attracted the attention of the international community for its success in modernizing land records. Over 50 million land owners’ records were digitized in all 36 of Punjab’s districts. Transaction transparency increased; over 5 million inconsistencies in land records were addressed and resolved in the digital system. One of the biggest achievements of the roject was the reduction in time to complete land transactions from about 2 months to one day.

This workshop is open to invited attendants only. If you have any questions or need additional information, please contact Mary Lisbeth Gonzalez at mlgonzalez@worldbank.org; Caleb Johnson cjohnson10@worldbank.org; or Shahnaz Meraj smeraj@worldbank.org.
