Climate change is a fundamental threat to sustainable development and the fight against poverty. The World Bank Group has been issuing green bonds in order to raise funds to support the climate-friendly projects such as renewable energy installations and energy-efficiency projects.
Since its first issuance in 2008, the World Bank is one of the world’s largest issuers of green bonds. To date, the World Bank Treasury has raised over $6.3 billion with green bonds.
As a pioneer in the field of green bonds, the World Bank Treasury’s Director Doris Herrera-Pol, Global Head of the Capital Markets, will explain the achievements and challenges to date. We hope this seminar will help expanding the green bonds market to raise the much-needed finance for sustainable growth. This seminar is organized by the World Bank Tokyo Office with the supported by Japan Securities Dealers Association (JSDA). We look forward to welcoming you.
